COURSE OBJECTIVES
The ISO 14044:2006 — LCA Practitioner Training Course is designed to help participants understand and practice the complete Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) process according to international standards of ISO 14044:2006.
Specific objectives:
- Enhance knowledge of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA): Deep understanding of concepts, principles, structure and requirements of ISO 14044:2006 and ISO 14040 standards
- Equip practical LCA skills: Participants master methods for building LCA models, collecting life cycle data, analyzing environmental impacts and interpreting results
- Support organizations in achieving certification and sustainability reporting: Help businesses meet customer requirements, RED II certification, ESG, or sustainable development programs
- Develop professional competency: Provide a solid foundation for environmental professionals, sustainability consultants, production engineers, R&D, and supply chain managers to become international LCA experts
TARGET PARTICIPANTS
This course is suitable for:
- Officers and specialists responsible for environment, sustainability or international standard compliance
- R&D, production, supply chain staff, or quality management (QA/QC)
- ISO, ESG, Carbon Footprint consultants, and middle-to-senior level managers
- Individuals aspiring to become LCA Practitioners / LCA Experts, capable of conducting and reporting life cycle assessments according to ISO standards
PROGRAM CONTENT

- History, purpose and role of LCA in environmental management
- Structure, scope and basic principles of ISO 14044:2006
- Connection with programs such as EPD, Carbon Footprint, RED II, ESG
2. Step 1: Goal & Scope Definition
- Define Functional Unit and system boundaries
- Select methods, assumptions and evaluation criteria
- Identify result users and research purpose (internal/external)
3. Step 2: Life Cycle Inventory (LCI) Analysis
- Collect input-output data (raw materials, energy, emissions)
- Analyze production processes, transportation, use and end-of-life treatment
- Check data completeness, consistency and reliability
4. Step 3: Life Cycle Impact Assessment (LCIA)
- Select impact categories (climate change, water pollution, energy consumption, etc.)
- Assign LCI results to impact categories
- Classification, characterization, normalization and (if applicable) weighting
5. Step 4: Interpretation & Reporting
- Analyze sensitivity, uncertainty and consistency
- Identify hotspots in the value chain
- Provide recommendations and environmental improvement strategies
6. LCA Model Building Practice (Practical Workshop)
