As the tourism industry becomes more deeply integrated into the global value chain, international standards for sustainable development have become a “common language” that allows businesses to establish credibility and reach premium partners. Understanding and applying standards such as GSTC or Travelife is no longer an optional advantage — it is a prerequisite for taking part in the international tourism arena.
Our sustainable tourism training aligned with international standards is designed to take learners from foundational awareness all the way to the capability needed to approach global certification systems.
International standards — a passport for an integrated tourism industry
International criteria and ecolabels play an increasingly important role in the modern tourism industry:
GSTC (Global Sustainable Tourism Council): the global criteria framework regarded as the foundational benchmark for sustainable tourism.
Travelife: a widely adopted certification system for tour operators and accommodation providers.
Green Key, EarthCheck: trusted ecolabels for accommodation facilities and destinations.
Lotus Green Label (Bông Sen Xanh): Vietnam’s distinctive green tourism label.
Achieving these certifications helps businesses reach international distribution channels, strengthen traveler trust, and expand cooperation opportunities. That journey, however, always begins with a team that understands the criteria from the very first steps.
Programme objectives
The programme is built on world-leading reference frameworks, enabling learners to do the following after completion:
Understand ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) thinking within the tourism industry.
Grasp the structure and core content of the GSTC criteria framework.
Become familiar with the Travelife, Green Key, and EarthCheck certification systems and the Lotus Green Label.
Carry out small-scale green audits covering energy, water, and waste.
Apply green practices that meet international criteria.
Build a foundation to prepare for assessment and certification processes.
Core content
The programme focuses on five content areas: an overview of green tourism and ESG thinking; environmental impact together with international criteria and green audit methods; green practices in operations; designing sustainable tourism products to standard; and green communication that avoids greenwashing, combined with action planning. All content is tied to specific international criteria and illustrated with real-world case studies from Vietnam and abroad.
The learning format is flexible — online, offline at the partner’s premises, or hybrid — and can be delivered in Vietnamese or bilingually in Vietnamese and English as required.
A pathway from awareness to advanced certification
The foundational awareness course is the starting point. From this base, businesses and organizations can continue with advanced pathways: GSTC/Travelife implementation training, green hotel management, greenhouse gas inventory for the tourism sector, ESG report development, and Train The Trainer programmes. This is a structured route for an organization to gradually build comprehensive sustainability capability and achieve international certifications.
Learner benefits
Participants who complete the course receive a set of training materials, a practical checklist based on international criteria, an ESG tourism reference pack, a green action plan template, and a Certificate of Completion.
